After the mass surveillance done by US government on the users of iPhone which was disclosed by the whistle bowler Edward Snowden who is an American computer professional, former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee, who copied and leaked classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2013 without prior authorization.

After that people were concerned about their privacy and security over the internet. So, now people are more particular about this things. So VPN services came into play and now there is a huge demand for VPN. Due to these demands, there are hardly any free VPN service providers who can match the paid VPN services.

For the desktop users the VPN is integrated into the Opera Browser but for the Smartphone users they came up with an app called Opera VPN. As the competition is more, so to come out of the box Opera came with its Opera VPN service which is free of cost. It has a bundle of features which you get with some of the paid VPNs services like IPVanish, Hotspot Shield. So will discuss Opera VPN and its features in the later part of the article but before that will discuss what actually a VPN is and why it is used?

What is VPN? Why It Is Used?

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a technology that is used to securely connect private network passing through a public network such as the Internet. Using a VPN, a computer, tablet, or Smartphone is able to securely connect with others on the Internet as if they were part of a private network.Using this technology may also bring security threats like spoofing, snipping, and hacking as the data travels using the Internet connection. In order to avoid any security attacks, a VPN uses encryption and authentication to secure the data that is traveling on the Internet.
